ERAMET contributes to TEDDY panel on innovative methodologies for paediatric and rare disease drug development

ERAMET will contribute to the upcoming TEDDY General Assembly and Scientific Meeting 2026 through a dedicated panel discussion exploring how innovative methodologies can strengthen evidence generation for paediatric, rare disease and other small-population research.

The panel, entitled “From Small Populations to Robust Evidence: European Methodologies for Paediatric and Rare Disease Drug Development”, will take place on 19 September 2026, from 12:00 to 13:00, as part of the TEDDY General Assembly and Scientific Meeting 2026, held from 18 to 20 September 2026 at the University of Bari Aldo Moro and online.

Representing ERAMET, Flora Musuamba Tshinanu will join experts from two other European projects, INVENTS and RealiseD, to discuss how methodological innovations can help address the challenges of generating robust evidence in small patient populations.

The session will examine how approaches such as modelling and simulation, innovative trial designs and evidence-generation tools can move from methodological development towards practical application in paediatric and rare disease research. Discussions will focus on key challenges including methodological maturity, regulatory and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) acceptance, operational implementation, and the role of research networks and data infrastructures.

A particular focus will be placed on ensuring the sustainability, accessibility and reuse of tools and resources developed through European research initiatives, while identifying opportunities for collaboration and addressing remaining gaps in evidence generation and implementation.

The discussion will be moderated by Viviana Giannuzzi from Fondazione per la Ricerca Farmacologica Gianni Benzi (FGB) and will bring together perspectives from different EU-funded initiatives working towards improving the development of medicines for rare and paediatric conditions.

Participants interested in attending the TEDDY General Assembly and Scientific Meeting 2026 can register through the event registration form.
